A hearty welcome to my small nest which I have endeavored
to weave in this colossal world of art. I have still to settle
down and I am sure that with your best wishes, I can.
In 1990, after completing my studies in Fine Arts, my efforts
at carving a career and being established, further distanced
me from my ‘art’ for well over 15 years.
Although the digression to commercial art did fetch me monetary
rewards for quality work, deep within however, my mind was
irresistibly drawn towards fine art. Since the last 3 years
I have started life all over again, pursuing my real passion.
I am in the process of learning. And there’s lots
to learn. So expressing my thoughts would mean that they
are, in all probability, still tender. But I would much rather
they remain so. Because, that way, I can be more receptive
and possibly bring about, from time to time, the necessary
changes in my work and thinking. It adds flexibility to both.
These changes are influenced by ambient factors like mentors,
nature, society, family, friends, critics, media, books etc.
and I feel, letting those changes happen, is my responsibility.
The fact that all of this makes me happy, is a different
matter altogether.
It is obvious that I create paintings which reflect the
style and a subject that are my favorites. Especially still-life.
I love to accept new challenges and to experiment on this
path. Instead of repeating what has been accomplished before,
I prefer to explore different options and newer ways of doing
things. I like my paintings to take form spontaneously, rather
than be pre-conceived.
Instead of confusing an art lover, I prefer my work to unfold
itself before him and fall in place like a jig-saw puzzle.
If I can present a subject, occasion, location or object
of my choice as vividly as I have perceived it, and if an
art lover were to endorse it with an “ This is exactly
how I had imagined it”, then I would be satisfied that
my efforts have been amply rewarded.
Such exchange of thoughts and experiences is what I strive
to achieve through the medium of my paintings. The same applies
to my poems. With your invaluable opinions I can definitely
gauge how appealing and successful my endeavour has been
thus far. Like I said before, I trust your best wishes are
with me. Always.
Thank you
